Google has the power to manipulate what you see on the web, targeting you with specific ads and burying search results that they would rather not see. But can they get to the point of controlling the outcome of political elections? Definitely, according to Robert Epstein, PhD, senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology ("AIBRT").
Epstein, a Harvard-trained psychologist who founded
the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, likens Google to a dictator with
unprecedented power because it relies on manipulation techniques that have
never existed before in human history. The free services they provide are
not really free, he warns. "You pay them with your freedom."

Robert Epstein, Ph.D. warns of Google's ability
to control public policy, change elections, and brainwash our children. The
methods used by Google are ephemeral and leave no trace of paper behind, making
it very difficult to detect and prove that they are using people as pawns,
manipulating us in ways we can not deal with.
Research by Epstein and colleagues has found that biased
search results can change people's views and voting preferences, shifting views
to undecided voters by 20% to 80% in certain demographic groups.
Google's auto-fill feature in its search engine can
turn the 50/50 split between undecided voters into almost 90/10 - all without
people realizing they are being falsified.
The first step to freeing yourself from Google's
dictatorship is to recognize that manipulation is happening. The next step
is to consciously exclude yourself as much as possible by protecting your
internet privacy.
Google has the power to manipulate what you see on the
web, targeting you with specific ads and burying search results that they would
rather not see. But can they get to the point of controlling the outcome
of political elections? Definitely , according to Robert Epstein,
Ph.D., senior research psychologist at the American
Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology (AIBRT).
Epstein, a Harvard-trained psychologist who founded
the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, likens Google to a dictator with
unprecedented power because it relies on manipulation techniques that have
never existed before in human history. The free services they provide are
not really free, he warns. "You pay for it with your
freedom." 1
Google uses ephemeral handling tools
In the video below, Epstein talks to Jan Jekielek,
editor-in-chief of The Epoch Times, about Google's ability to control public
policy, change elections, and brainwash our children. Google has the power
to "censor content, monitor our every move, dismantle societies, change
the human mind, and even redesign humanity," Epstein wrote in his report,
Google's Triple Threat, 2 which he mentions in detail in his interview with
Jekielek.
The methods used by Google are ephemeral and leave no
trace of paper, making it very difficult to detect and prove that they use
people as pawns, manipulating us in ways we can not deal with. Ephemeral
experiences appear for a while, then disappear and include things like a list
of recommended YouTube videos, search suggestions, and topics in a news feed.
"They affect us, they disappear, they are not
stored anywhere and they are gone," says Epstein. "It's the
perfect form of manipulation. "People have no idea they are being
manipulated, number one and number two, the authorities can not go back in time
to see what people were showing, in other words, how they were being
manipulated." 3
Epstein and his team, however, have found ways to
track Google's invisible, almost subconscious, tools, including the Search
Engine Optimization (SEME) effect. According to Epstein: 4
"SEME is one of the most powerful forms of
influence ever discovered in the behavioral sciences. It lets people think they
have made their own decision, which is largely an illusion. It also leaves
no traces of paper for authorities to locate. Worse, the very few people
who can detect bias in search results shift even further in the direction of
bias, so just being able to see the bias does not protect you from it. "
Research by Epstein and colleagues has found that
biased search results can change people's views and voting preferences,
shifting views to undecided voters by 20% to 80% in certain demographic
groups. 5 Internal emails leaked by Google speak of "ephemeral
experience" and the company points out that it is planning ephemeral
experiences that aim to change the way people think.
SEME, however, is just one of the twelve subconscious
tools that Epstein's team have discovered. Others include "search
suggestion effect", "view matching effect" and "YouTube
manipulation effect". 6
Did Google shift millions of votes in 2020?
As Epstein and his team began to maintain ephemeral
political-related experiences, extreme political bias was revealed in Google
and YouTube, which is owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet.
In the days before the 2020 presidential election and
the 2021 Senate election in Georgia, for example, they maintained 1.5 million
ephemeral experiences and more than 3 million websites, which was enough to
shift "at least 6 million votes to presidential elections without the
knowledge of the people ". 7
This is not an isolated incident. In 2016,
Google's search algorithm generated biased search results that affected
undecided voters, giving Hillary Clinton 2.6 to 10.2 million votes.
Epstein points out that he is politically
left-leaning, but despite the prejudice of Google working to support the
candidates he has supported, he can not applaud it, "because my rigorous
2013 research has shown me how dangerous these companies are. Google-and-the-Gang,
I call them. " 8
Even when a "Go Vote" reminder appeared on
Google on election day, Epstein found that he gave one political party an extra
800,000 to 4.6 million votes compared to what the other party got. In addition,
Epstein says these numbers are "quite conservative." 9 "In
other words," Epstein explained, "Google's Go Vote prompt was not a
public service. it was vote manipulation. "This type of vote
manipulation is an example of what I call 'Differential demographic
effect.' 10
Epstein also had a tracking system in 2018, which
retained more than 47,000 election-related searches on Google, Bing and Yahoo,
along with nearly 400,000 websites linked to by search results. The
political bias revealed in the results may have shifted 78.2 million votes to
one political party. 11
Even the "auto-complete" feature that
appears when you start typing into Google's search engine is a powerful
manipulation tool. "An increasing body of data suggests that Google
is manipulating people's thinking and behavior from the first character that
people type in a search box," writes Epstein. 12 It is from this
feature alone that Epstein's research has found that Google can turn the 50/50
divide between undecided voters into almost 90/10 - all without people
realizing that they are being manipulated.
In addition, because Google's compelling technologies
are so powerful and many elections around the world are very close, Epstein
data suggests that Google is likely to determine the results of up to 25% of
national elections worldwide by at least 2015. 13
Google is a surveillance service
It is important to understand that Google is a
tracking service with significant but hidden tracking powers and this is one of
its major threats to society. As Epstein notes: 14
Search Engine… Google Wallet, Google Docs, Google
Drive, YouTube, these are tracking platforms. In other words, from their
point of view, the value of these tools is that they give them more information
about you. "Surveillance is what they do."
While surveillance is Google's main activity, its
revenue - in excess of $ 130 billion a year - comes almost entirely from
advertising. All of this personal information that you provide to them
through their various products is sold to advertisers looking for a specific
target audience. Meanwhile, they also have an unprecedented ability to
censor. By restricting or blocking access to websites, they decide what
you can and cannot see.
The most overwhelming problem with this type of
internet censorship is that you do not know what you do not know. If a
certain type of information is removed from the search and you do not know it
must be somewhere, you will never know and you will not search. This is
how hundreds of millions of people have been deprived of the power of physical
therapy by me and many other clinicians censored by Google.
For example, Google has been investing in DNA
repositories for a long time and adding DNA information to our
profiles. According to Epstein, Google has taken over the national DNA
repository, but the articles about it - which he has mentioned in his own texts
- have disappeared. As it stands, Epstein worries about the future if no
one intervenes to stop the power of Google: 15
"As a father of five, I'm particularly concerned
about what the future holds for humanity if Big Tech is allowed to continue unhindered on its
path to world domination. In the 1950s, the British economist Kenneth
Boulding wrote: "A world of invisible dictatorship is conceivable, still
using forms of democratic governance."
I am writing this essay because I believe that such a
world already exists and that if we do not act quickly and decisively, the
power gathered by the executives of the technology company will be so firmly
established that we will never be able to uproot them from the invisible
thrones. "
Epstein's top six privacy tips
The first step to freeing yourself from Google's
dictatorship is to recognize that manipulation is happening. The next is
to consciously exclude yourself from it as much as possible. It is
especially important to protect children, as they are among the most vulnerable
to the onslaught of manipulation, which will have serious consequences for
future generations. Epstein noted: 16
"We are trying to understand how manipulation
works. But most importantly, we try to quantify it… Because I believe that
what is really happening is that there is a cumulative effect, not just of
political bias, but a value, literally a cumulative effect of exposure to
certain kinds of values, and over and over again, to one technology platform or
the other.
"And I think the people who are most vulnerable
to being affected by this kind of process are the children."
Epstein has compiled six steps that can help protect
your online privacy, noting that it has not received targeted advertising on
its PC or mobile phone since 2014 as a result. To get the most out of your
online privacy, both for you and your kids, it recommends: 17
1. Get rid of Gmail. If you have a Gmail account,
try a non-Google email service such as ProtonMail , a Swiss-based encrypted email service.
2. Uninstall Google Chrome and use the Brave browser , available on all PCs
and mobile devices. Blocks ads and protects your privacy.
3. Switching search engines. Try the Brave search
engine, in which you can access the Brave browser and it will not compromise
your privacy and will not monitor you.
4. Avoid Android. Google Phones and Android
phones are essentially tracking what you do and not protecting your privacy. It
is possible to remove Google from your mobile phone by getting an Android phone
that does not have a Google operating system, but you will need to find a
qualified computer technician who can resize your mobile hard drive.
5. Avoid Google Home devices. If you have Google
Home smart speakers or the Google Assistant smartphone app, chances are people
will hear your requests and even hear you when you least expect it.
6. Consider using a proxy or VPN (VPN). This
service creates a buffer between you and the Internet, "tricking many
tracking companies into believing that it's not really you".
